Collectible Decorative Souvenir from Nassau Bahamas ~ Aluminum Metal Plate / Tray ~ 11 round Metal souvenir serving tray featuring a central image of Bay Street surrounded by colorful photo vignettes of local landmarks and scenes. The tray is probably from the late 1950s to the 1960s. Mid-Century Modern decor. The airport: The bottom-right image features the old terminal of Nassau International Airport (now Lynden Pindling International Airport), which officially opened for civilian operations in 1957. The Policeman: The central figure at the bottom features a member of the Royal Bahamas Police Force wearing the traditional white pith helmet, whit tunic, and red sash - a popular imagery staple used heavily in Bahamian tourism advertising during the 1950s and 60s. The Imagery Style: The lithographed color palette, distinct fonts, and specific depictions of Bay Street traffic and native horse-drawn surreys are classic examples of post-WWII Caribbean travel boom era.
