Description
This item is a vintage Carousel brand gumball machine, originally manufactured by Carousel Industries, Inc. when they were headquartered in Morton Grove, Illinois.Machine Overview & HistoryOrigin: Invented in the 1950s by Arthur Gold, Carousel Industries grew to become one of the world's largest manufacturers of home-use gumball machines before being acquired by Ford Gum & Machine Co. in the 1980s.Materials: Built to last with a heavy die-cast metal base coated in a vibrant fire-engine red finish and a thick real glass globe.Functionality: These machines double as a coin-operated bank designed to accept nearly all denominations (pennies, nickels, dimes, quarters) and can also be adjusted via the internal mechanism to free-spin without needing a coin.Usage: They are explicitly designed for personal/home use only rather than commercial routing. They function best with small-sized candies like M&Ms, Skittles, or small 0.62-inch gumballs, as larger 1-inch commercial gumballs will clog the mechanism
