Antique Flemish Art Co. Pyrography Wood Box, Rose Floral Design, NY c1900s

An authentic antique pyrography (wood-burning) box by the Flemish Art Company of Brooklyn, NY, marked Flemish Art on the bottom. The Flemish Art Co. was one of the earliest and largest makers of pyrography supplies and blanks at the turn of the 20th century, so influential that Flemish Art became a generic term for the wood-burning craft itself.  This box features a hand-burned rose/floral design across the lid and sides, with brass hardware including a hinged lid and clasp. Likely originally sold as a glove or handkerchief box, a common use for this style and size.  Condition: There's a crack on the bottom that doesn't impact the function of the piece.
