Description
This unique historical educational set includes a celluloid or early plastic scarf slide and its accompanying reward of merit card, dating back to 1912. The slide features a classical female profile, reminiscent of a cameo, set in a yellow oval frame with a decorative bronze-tone inner border. The reverse has a simple metal bar for attachment. Accompanying the scarf slide is a handwritten reward card, noting: Given to Alvin Albright, as a reward of merit, Dec. 18-1912. Lucretia Myers, teacher. (Redeemed). The card's front displays a charming color illustration of a pastoral landscape framed by flowers. This set offers a fascinating glimpse into early 20th-century American education and the practice of recognizing student achievement. A wonderful piece for collectors of historical memorabilia, teaching artifacts, or early school awards.
