Description
Vintage, new, never used for their purpose, 39 quantity, bone white, domed, casein plastic, button lot with metal shanks. These are likely nursing or uniform buttons, designed with shanks for easy removal from lab coats or chefs' jackets for commercial laundering. This early organic polymer was derived from milk protein and formaldehyde that was highly popular from the 1930s through the 1950s. (See photos for details) I am the original owner.
